April 25, 2012

So Hello everyone.  I hope that all is well.  I really am wondering how things are going.  Thanks for the love and the support.  Thanks for the people that are letting me in a little on their lives.  I love hearing from home.  Its another rainy day here in Lecco.  Thats what you get when you are in the Alps.
So I had a great week.  We are really working for 20 lessons.  And we actually pulled out 13 that really was not supposed to happen.  We were gone 2 days last week.  One for zone conference and then pday is always difficult with the lessons.  But Friday we had the Traveling Assistants with us.  They are some BRAVO missionaries that are just going around the missionaries helping all the struggling companionships.  That was sweet to have them come and really help us. ITS AWESOME NOW!!!  we found like 10 new people that are a bit interested in the church.  So now we have some work to do.  Lots of diffenrent phone numbers were given and addresses.  It was great to have them come.  The work is really killing now.  Lots of stuff to do.  Not enough time.
Our baptisimal date, she is awesome.  We taught her the Law of Chastity and Word of Wisdom, the toughests things to teach, ESPECIALLY in Italy.  She ate it up.  She defintiely is applying it to her life.  She went home that day and told her boyfriend about the law of chastity, he immediately said that he wants to marry her and start TAKING THE LESSONS!!  What??? This guy has not been wanting to take the lessons at all and out of no where he wants to be baptized.  And so does her son.  He is 9 so of course he wants to follow his mother.  That was the best news all week.  I really was happy about that.  Just shows that the lord was really working on them and now it is paying off.  Anyways, THAT IS AWESOME NEWS!!!  They are coming to church on Sunday!
A funny story.  We have been teaching this young kid recently, Juglio.  He is kind of like a rebel.  Like he is always wearing Rasta stuff.  Kind of a sketchy kid, but loves to talk about the church and has expressed a little about baptisms.  So we are really working with him hard.  So he invited us to come to meet his friends, they wanted to know who we were and what we were about.  So we walk into this park, IMMEDIATELY i Recognize these guys are high out of their minds.  Kind of not a good crowd, anyways.  Yeah, I immediately recognize it and say to Anz A, these guys are just high!!!  He goes, REALLY???  Utah kids, they dont know their drug heads.  That is what Cali brought me, knowledge of the sketchy people.  Anyways we sit down and this guy starts to roll a cigarette, with tobacco, but he pulled out something else.  HEROINE!!  I noticed it immediately and started to close out the convo!!  He put it in the tobacco and rolled it and started to smoke, BLOWING THE SMOKE DIRECTLY INTO ANZ Andersons face!!!  He was just getting a face full of the smoke.  We got out of their fast!!!!  As we were walking away, he was like, "I have a major headache"  Yeah no way!!  You just got some HARD DRUGS blown in your face.  hahahha.  It was scary but hilarious at the same time.  I dont think Juglio will be going very far with the lessons.
Anyways.  Anziano Anderson is gettting transfered to Brescia and Leaving me here to Run Lecco.  I am going to be having a new companion Anziano Volley, or Valley.  He is in his last transfers so hopfully he isnt too trunky and we do some really good work.  So the thing to think is, I am going to have 3 comps in 3 first 3 transfers.  Thats insane, and completely unheard of.  Insane.  I think that the Lord is preparing me for something.  I dont know but thats like unheard of.  This was a longer transfer.  7 weeks for my first, but now all the transfers will be 6 weeks.
OKAY!!!  IMPORTANT!!!  Mom, dont send packages UNLESS you are going to put money in my account for how much the custom fees are.  Sometimes they are out of this world.   For christmas, i understand, but other stuff, just send me an email or something, tell me what you would have sent me, and I will go and get it at the store.  It would have been a surprise but I dont want to pay HUGE customs prices.  Some are like 70 euro...which is like 87 bucks.  For a tie and some candy, NO WAY!!!  I would love to just go get it at the store and you just throw some money in the account.
Well everyone.  I love you all.  I am doing wonderful.  All my buddies are now on missions.  THAT IS SICK!!!  I am loving that.

April 11, 2012

Ciao from Italy;
I am loving all the emails and reports from you all.  Its great to hear from you and hear that everything is going great.  I dont know how anything else would go wrong.  I mean you are in Cali with some great weather, and its Baseball season.  you gotta love that.  (I know that there are some few others scattered everywhere else, you guys are great too).  It is another rainy day here in Lecco.  It has been raining a lot lately making it difficult to work.  People think that in the rain, there are like devils or something so they barely will even let someone in their home.  And the people outside, are bundled up like its 0 degrees.  Its really nice weather, not cold rain, just rain.  Good thing I have an umbrella.  On saturday there was lighting that litterally hit down the street.  Like no more that a football field away, that was the loudest thunder I have ever heard in my life!!!  I like shook the umbrella.  FREAKY!!!!
I am doing very well.  We are starting to get some more investigators.  doing what we can to be able to continue teaching.  That is important.  when we teach the days go by really fast, when Its just finding work, BORING!!!  But I actually loving finding work!  However, the stairs are probably the worst part, we bike up a huge hill and then walk up 10 stories of stairs.  Your legs are just finished after that.  Its ok  though.  Its how I am losing so much weight.  I love talking to the people.  We found some dude in the park and started teaching him.  He really got into the lessons and now he is wanting to read the book of mormon.  It seems like everything thnks it costs money.. We say "The word of god is free" and they totally start complainng about their churrch and how they make them pay for stuff.  Its way funny.  Just one way that we can bring them closer to our truth.  I love the people of Italy.  They are always so happy.  its great to talk to the old people.  They think that the pope is like GOD and then the younger people hate the pope right now.  Its so funny to  hear them.  I am starting to understand a lot more.
Easter was great.  We went to a families house and they had a huge meal for us.  I am really loving the food.  The ward is about 90 % Italian.  Thats a lot of people.  There are a few different cultures and they are the ones with the different food.  ITs all good, but its just different.  Then we went to another house for Dinner and had a wonderful time there.  Its was a really good easter.  The members gave us a ton of food to last us a little longer.  It was great.
I love you all. Thanks for everything that you are doing.  You all are superstars in my eyes.
Vi amo

April 4, 2012

That week was great.  I got letters from home, and Emails from people.  So great to hear from all of you and know that everything is going well.  Baseball starts this week.  Lucky for all of you.  GO BOSTON.  hahaha. Anyways.  Thanks  for writing me.
So the works is slowly putting along.  Everything in Lecco is pretty much rolling along as good as it can right now.  We are doing a lot of finding work, lots of door to door and doing work in the Pilazzi.  Its all good.  I love it.  We run into the weirdest people every day.  They are either way old or just plain weird.  But life is good here.  We are doing a lot of work.  Trying to teach a lot of lessons.  20 lessons is the goal.  We are doing really well for the week.  I think that we can make it to 20.  Things are looking up.  WE HAVE A BAPTISM!!!  The 28th of April.  Thanks Brian for having a Birthday.  But you are giving me a gift, hahaha.  That didnt make any sense.  Francisca from Cuba.  She found the missionaries after going to the Salt Lake Temple.  She loved it.  And now she is on the road to getting baptized.  Really excited about that.  We found another family, they seem to be elect.  She loved the BOOK OF MORMON!!  Took it out of my hands and just started thumbing through it.  And then she said.  Lo voglio.  I want it.  Quanti costa?  how much.  We just looked at eachother, Anziano Anderson and I and just looked at her, ITS YOURS!!!  ahhahaa.  We are probably gonna go back tomorrow and get another lesson with her.  That would be great.  We really want to help these people.  But its just getting that first lesson that changes their life.  Also, we have another, JUGLIO!!!  Love is his religion.  He is always telling us that.  And we answer with, well, its ours too.  Because thats what It is.  We arent lying.  Just saying that it is.  He wants to be baptized.  But He has to meditate first.  He actually read the book of mormon.  And he is coming to church on Sunday.  See there is missionary work here.  I wasnt worried that we wouldnt have ANYTHING!!  But I am surprised with how great the people are.
Food wise, the PIZZA IS AMAZING!!  But the other stuff, I can make what they make.  I havent had anything that like blew me away.  Then again, I havent had a resturant meal yet.  But thats okay.  I can make a bomb white sauce now.  I am going to perfect my own mac and cheese recipe and then I will show you all whats up.  I am going to be somewhat good.  I can make crepes and homemade tortillas.  Those are good.  I am surprised how easy it is to make a healthy meal.  FAST FOOD IS GOOD, but so is being 25 pounds less than I was.  I love this place.
As for conference!!  BOSS!!  I loved the talk by President Ucthdorf, about the blessings that others recieve.  STOP IT!!!  Dont be jealous when people get something that you dont have.  The lord loves everyone the same.  Just the same reason why the manager paid everyone the same.  No matter how long they worked.  Eternal life is all the same no matter how long you work.  BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN STOP WORKING!!!  Its a constant battle.  But we have to happy with the people that join a little later, (Baptized).  I am, hopefully you are too!!!
Love you all.
